In the Redemption from Egypt, Even Now
„The very act of the Exodus from Egypt is an act that does not cease at all.”From Olat Re'iyah, Tefillin
The Exodus from Egypt is a living movement that acts within history and within the person alike, and continues its action without cease. Rav Kook describes that 'outstretched arm' as a force that refines reality, that lifts a person out of the burden of materiality and habit, and illuminates within the heart a different movement – cleaner, more directed. The act that was done then, which brought liberty and freedom to the world, continues to refine to this day this very concept of freedom, of nationhood, of redemption. And this is the labor of Passover. Not only to go out of the Egypt that was, but to allow this exodus to continue to act within us, until the heart itself chooses the good, and is redeemed.
