My Name

„And there is one whose listening is so perforated that he loses his self-concentration; he knows many names, only his own name he has forgotten.”From Orot HaKodesh III, 96

What is our role in the world? To fulfill the destiny for which we were created, to sound the unique voice that was planted within us. Sometimes, and especially in a rich and full world, we absorb all the voices around us, and wish to sound more and more - and from the abundance of voices and colors we lose our own color. We so wish to listen that we lose along the way the attentiveness to ourselves. And what is the mending? Later in the passage the Rav explains that sometimes one must completely silence the noise. To be in complete quiet, and to listen anew - this is a very difficult process, and at its depth it reminds us not to flee from the purpose of our lives.

Expansion on the topic I will send to the discussion group (a group that is not quiet).
