„When a person repents out of love, he must forgive himself all his in…”
„When a person repents out of love, he must forgive himself all his iniquities, just as he must appease his fellow for transgressions between one person and another in order to obtain his forgiveness. And after he is, in his own eyes, atoned and clean of sin, there will be aroused upon him the holiness of a lofty part, such that all his iniquities will be transformed into merits.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, 5671 (1911)
When one opens a new page in life, when one tries to advance and repent from a positive place, a person must forgive himself.
The ability to forgive opens new possibilities, gives an opportunity for growth and flourishing, gives an opportunity for renewal.
When we forgive ourselves, we give those around us the possibility to do so, and even the Holy One.
