The Will Shall Prevail

„We are able... to bring redemption to the world, to remove all the dimness in life, and to overcome all its weaknesses. And it all depends on our will.”From Orot HaKodesh III, part 2, sec. 46

The fact that everything depends on us, according to Rav Kook - that "the heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth He has given to the children of man" - is both very hard and very wondrous at once. It is hard, because it means that in every situation we must work hard, all our lives, to advance the world and to advance ourselves and those close to us. And it is wondrous, because everything depends on us. And in the power of the will lies the basis for this success. As Rav Kook says, "the good will is everything."
