Holy Heresy
„A person denies the Torah from Heaven, but his denial is founded only on that absorption which he absorbed... and he says: the Torah has a source more sublime than this.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I:633
In this passage the Rav explains that there is a heretic who appears to be a believer, and there is a believer who appears to be a heretic. How so? There is a heretic who may have all the full garb of a believing person, but his faith is imaginary and remote, and there is no Holy One in it but rather detached fantasies. And there is a believer who appears to be a heretic - he sees before his eyes a detached and dark Torah and seeks for himself a greater Torah. He seeks for himself a connection to the Torah of truth.
