Yom Kippur
„Repentance comes from a clear reckoning of a lucid world, and it itself clarifies and, by its power, makes lucid the world.”From Olat Re'iyah, 'Ata Hivdalta'
On the eve of Yom Kippur we are occupied with repairing ourselves — with our private and intimate soul-reckoning and the desire to be better: before the Holy One, blessed be He, before our friends and family, before the world, before ourselves. The capacity for repentance and repair begins in the very clarification and the desire to be better. And this clarification makes the world clearer, and reality more lucid, pleasant, and correct. It is good for us and good for the world.
