What would the Rav say about the situation today? What would the Rav say about crises, about hardships, about difficulty. I of course do not know, but I believe with all my heart that he would look with his good eyes upon those who turn to him and upon reality, and heal. The hope that we plant in our hearts is the beginning of a process of repentance and repair. We see in nature that decay is the way to the creation of new life, that the peak of darkness is a moment before the breaking forth of light. And so it is also in our reality. The more we understand and internalize and sharpen this for ourselves, the more we will create a better world. A good eye upon reality, upon the people in it, upon ourselves — and the world will be better. We miss the Rav very much, 88 years since his passing; may his memory be blessed.
