Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Guiding Torah
„The upright person must believe in his life... The Torah must be a lamp to his feet, by which he sees the place where error is likely, for at times the soul strays in a trackless waste.”From Orot HaTorah 11:2
Man is a rational being. His intellectual power, his understanding, his intuition are a tremendous wonder in the world. And precisely for this reason the Torah is of immense importance. It is a higher, loftier book of laws that holds within it the understanding that not all truth is in our pocket — that there is something higher than personal conceptions and personal desires, that there are laws that contradict wants and cravings and desires. Such is the power of Torah!
