Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Point of View

„When a person turns his gaze, the inclination of his mind, toward the light, the order, the repair in existence, he himself is illumined, ordered, and repaired... When he turns to the other side, to the darkness, to the confusion, to the chaos, he himself is filled with darkness, chaos, and confusion.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 172

A person is a small world. And as in the world, everything is within him — there is good and evil in him, and points of view that can amplify the good that exists or the absence of it. When we focus on the good, we illuminate ourselves and our lives. When we focus on the evil or on the absence of good, we darken ourselves and our lives. This does not mean that there is no evil, but that through the capacity of our gaze we can shape our days and our nights.
