Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Cleansing from Sin
„Every removal of a sin is like the removal of an obstructing object from before the seeing eye, and a complete horizon of vision is revealed — light from the expanses of heaven and earth and all that is in them.”From Orot HaTeshuvah 5:2
This amazing description of Rav Kook explains in the most precise way the place of sin in our lives. A sin and a way of life that is bad for us can become part of who we are, and its removal is like surgery — something bound up with tremendous pain, but which brings supreme pleasure once the surgery is over and a new horizon of vision is revealed. When we succeed in advancing and doing teshuvah, we are cleansed and find ourselves in a better and healthier place, and we discover new worlds that, in the times of sin, simply vanished from us.
