When we are in searching, in learning, and in building, the desire to advance and to reach the great and longed-for truth causes us immense pain. The Rav emphasizes that the sensation of pain, alongside the sorrow and the anguish it causes, is a sign of health. A healthy body feels pain; a sick body does not.
