The Letter of Repentance

„At the foundation of everything there must come the general awareness of the certainty of repentance, the profound calm, and the mighty joy that must clothe the soul of every person in whose spirit the light of repentance shines.”From Igeret HaTeshuvah

Rav Kook opens the Letter of Repentance with the very confidence and joy of knowing that repair is possible. Our world is full of distortions that cannot be undone, yet standing before the Holy One, everything can be mended. With a heavenly perspective we can change course even if we have made terrible mistakes, and this is a tremendous message and a tremendous understanding of the concept of repentance. There is a chance. There is always a chance.
