„The upright person must believe in his life. That is, he must believe…”
„The upright person must believe in his life. That is, he must believe in his own life and in his feelings that proceed along an upright path from the foundation of his soul—that they are good and upright, and that they lead him along an upright path.”From Orot HaTorah 11:2
Trust is the foundation of reality. When trust is lost, God forbid, the door is opened for the ills of the world to enter and take over our lives. Our trust in ourselves is the key to overcoming the mistakes and errors of life. Further on in his words, Rav Kook connects this to the bond with the Torah and its laws, but the recurring emphasis is on the very feeling that we must have within us—that we are all right. Perhaps in this way we can interpret slightly differently the verse from Proverbs (Ecclesiastes): 'See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.' We were created as upright people; if we do not labor to find flaws in ourselves, we will remain faithful to the source—upright and simple.
