„We live with the spiritual images within the aspiration of the soul o…”
„We live with the spiritual images within the aspiration of the soul of the nation. In every place where the sparks of this light are hidden, we are bound with a bond of the soul of life, of our whole being, to it. Whether this place be an actual place, a measure of land, whether it be deeds in which these images are hidden at their foundation, whether it be thoughts and ideas of any kind whatsoever.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 1:1
The People of Israel live with aspirations of holiness; this is imprinted within them. When the People of Israel occupy themselves with the holy — even if the holy is hidden within various concealments — they are bound to the Holy One, blessed be He, and to spiritual existence.
The Rav writes these words upon his ascent to the Land. It seems to me that before his eyes stand the pioneers, who on the one hand abandoned the path of their fathers, and on the other hand are making the desolate Promised Land bloom with their own hands.
The Rav sees the duality before his eyes and writes these words to himself, a kind of reminder of the immense forces present in these people, of whom he will be a teacher.
In the second passage the Rav adds and says that if a person rises up against these spiritual images, against these aspirations, we must rise up against him.
Have a pleasant rest of the day, everyone.
