„Through the aspiration for purity of the soul at its supreme level, t…”

„Through the aspiration for purity of the soul at its supreme level, the purity returns also upon the body and all its limbs, and the radiance of true life gradually begins to be revealed upon it. But one must first shatter the partitions of darkness, cloud, and fog that surround it.”From Shemonah Kevatzim 8:209

Some say that in order to reach high and great levels one must be in purity, and only out of purity can one begin.

Rav Kook's approach differs on this matter. When a person aspires to the good, he begins his path in purity. The Rav even says this in "Orot HaTeshuvah," where he explains that the mere thought of repentance is itself like repentance — the very thought of changing our way creates in us an immense change.

Of course this is the beginning of the path, and aspiration alone is not enough; but together with this, aspiration and good will lead a person to high places and can help him to advance and to raise himself even from the lower levels in which he is found.

And through this hope he will merit to shatter the partitions and obstacles that surround him on his path to purity and to the good.

Have a pleasant rest of the day.
