„...on this Shabbat... ***”

The exodus from Egypt revealed to the world that freedom is possible. Egypt was a superpower, and the exodus from it and its dethroning as "queen of the world" revealed to the world that change is possible, that it is possible to overcome the forces of nature, to overcome the reality that at times seems to us to have no chance in the world of being changed.

The people of Israel became a nation at the very peak of impurity. In the lowest place, God revealed Himself to Moses, and the people of Israel were chosen to be a nation that would lead the moral world.

And just as it is possible for a nation to rise from the lowest place, to repent and to advance toward life, so too is it with the individual person.
