„The shame that one feels in the innermost heart on account of sin, even though it is a natural thing, nevertheless contains a measure of atonement (Orot HaTeshuvah 14, 24)”

Do you know the bad feeling one has after committing a sin? This feeling is a natural feeling, like the feeling of revulsion that arises in us when we eat something spoiled.

Rav Kook explains that even though this thing is natural and seemingly does not depend on us, there is in this matter a measure of atonement, and perhaps his intent is that with it the atonement begins.

If we succeed in listening to ourselves and to our inner feelings, we will be able to merit connecting to the good and distancing ourselves from the evil.

A pleasant day to all!
