To Rise and Repair
„Even when shadows pass, and the spirit is somewhat troubled... and the raging physicality grows strong, I will not be afraid, for I will immediately return in repentance, and the lowly state will become for me a source of learning how to arrange the paths for the days to come.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VI, 9
One of the great mistakes of a person who seeks good is the thought that if anger, desire, sadness, weakness, and the like have again awakened within him, it is a sign that he has not truly advanced. A person must aspire to light and to good, but on the other hand we must not be alarmed by complex periods and by shadows, for they are an inseparable part of our advancement and our work. If a person falls, he must remember that the gates of repentance and repair are always available. And consequently to remember that a descent is a path that can lift and advance him, through his rising and moving forward from his lowly place.
