„And if the soul in its hidden depth is imbued with a divine thirst, and the laying bare of pure uprightness is its constant longing, who is it that can stand in its way and divert it from the course of its fresh flow?”From Shemonah Kevatzim, VIII, 260

On the night after Yom Kippur, and generally at the end of the Days of Awe, the question arises whether this whole story was not one big game.

In the synagogues many Jews prayed, even those who do not frequent the synagogues during the year came and poured out their hearts in prayers.

Tomorrow, the day after, and in the coming weeks we will all return to routine, to small and large sins, to falls, to routine.

Is there not hypocrisy here?

Our soul longs and thirsts for the Holy One; we do not always manage to see this, but it exists. It seems to me that the falls we fall during the year are the hypocrisy, and the 'Days of Awe' we experienced are the truth.
