To Believe in Yourself

„How much I must fight against myself, to hold on to an inner faith in the greatness of my soul... in itself, by virtue of its unique quality.”From Chadarav, p. 24

Every day we struggle against the voice within us that diminishes us and measures our worth only by our successes, our deeds, and our meeting of expectations. When we fall or become confused, we feel as though our worth has fallen along with us. The Rav asks that we hold on to a deep faith that there is within us a greatness that does not depend on our behavior at a given moment, but on the very fact that we have a soul possessing a unique quality, that is, an inner worth that does not disappear even when we are far from ourselves. The recognition of this greatness creates responsibility, for one who believes that there is something precious within him seeks to guard it and to bring it to actualization slowly and honestly, and even when he falls he does not give up on himself but returns to grasp the deep identity from which it is possible to begin anew.
