This week's parashah opens with dreams and their interpretation. We have all dreamed, and we can all return and dream again. Sometimes the dream seeks to look ahead, to hope for good. And sometimes the dream helps to look straight at a complex reality and to prepare with its help - to store up strength in the good years, and to use the reserves of strength for times of lack. We must guard against the race of life that sometimes extinguishes the dream because of "the venomous stings of reality," in the Rav's words. To dream, to see a future and good with a truthful view of reality.
