Returning to the Soul's Unique Quality

„The withholding of inner contentment comes to a person from his distancing himself from that for which he is suited by the unique qualities of his soul.”From Shemonah Kevatzim II, 123

Within us there is an innate direction, a natural inclination created in us, an inner movement to which alone we truly belong. And when we distance ourselves from it, even out of good intentions or under the pressure of circumstances, society, and expectations, the heart begins to signal its discontent, marking for us its desire to return to our original essence. We are called to deep and genuine listening in order to find our place in the world: to know where we must desist, and where we must demand more of ourselves. Our heart and body often signal to us whether we have strayed. And then we must return, either to change direction entirely, or to realign with who and what we are and renew ourselves.
