An Evil Thought Creates an Evil Reality

„When one turns... to darkness, to confusion, to chaos, he himself becomes filled with darkness, chaos, and confusion, and adds these corruptions in a measured way to all of existence.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 172

When you look around you and see only confusion, only darkness, only evil, you are not describing the world but yourself. This gaze draws you inward, fills the soul with poison, and turns life itself into a hell.

When you live in the illusions that everything is closing in on you, that the whole world is against you, you create a stranglehold and bring into being a reality; your inner darkness grows and grows and surrounds you.

This is the tragedy of looking with an evil eye: it blackens all your surroundings, and creates a reality of darkness.
