Sacred and Secular

„Everything that gives greater strength to the World to Come is thereby more vigorously alive in this world as well... and from the foundation of this world there will be built and established even now the depth of the national life of Israel, and the building of the land will grow.”From Orot, Yisrael veTechiyato 11

Here lies the root of the conception of Rav Kook and of those who follow his path. The more a person believes in the Holy One, blessed be He, the more he is connected to this world. Rav Kook reveals to us that the connection between the worlds is not a theoretical idea but a building force: the vitality of the Jewish people rests upon faith in the eternal and in the human being, and therefore it is precisely the Oral Torah, which the sages wrote and which bridges between the word of God and the reality of our world, that succeeds in translating the eternity of the Torah into life, and sustains the nation throughout the generations. The ability to be both a Torah scholar and a man of action. A person who is immersed in the depth of Halachah and, on the other hand, in the knowledge of his profession and his expertise in the domain of our world. To repair the world, in the kingdom of the Almighty.
