Toward Holocaust Remembrance Day
„Come to the Land of Israel! We call... in a voice that tears through every wall of the heart. Flee for your lives and come to the Land of Israel.”From LeEretz Yisrael
In 1906, Rav Kook wrote an essay in which he called upon Jews from all over the world to ascend to the Land of Israel. "Do what you can, flee and gather, come to the Land of Israel." The Rav called upon the people to flee from the troubles about to arrive, from decay and assimilation. And alongside this, the Rav called upon Jews to come and help in the revival of the land of our fathers. Many scorned his call then to come to a broken land holding fewer than 70,000 Jews. But this did not stop him from crying out and pleading with the Jewish people to return to their land. On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, this call echoes anew to our brothers throughout the world. "Come to the Land of Israel!" We need you with us.
