„The great righteous ones ascend greatly in their holiness u...”

A great tzaddik is a tzaddik who knows how to elevate the world along with him. Who cares not only for himself but also for his surroundings, and manages to see with his eyes, even through ugliness, the immense beauty found in every person. The ability to see in our children, for example - precisely in the difficult hours with them - traits for life, can advance us and them. So too with our spouses, with our students, and with every person with whom we interact.

And these things are true also toward ourselves - even if we are in deep abysses, we must know that there is a chance for ascent. At times, precisely the great descent is the sign of our immense capabilities and of our high demands. Even when we are very ugly in our own eyes, it is important that we remember the pure soul and the beauty that is in each one of us.

There is a chance. One need only look through the right glasses. And be great tzaddikim :-)
