The Consolation of Israel
„We are obligated to console Israel, to make known the general praise of the Congregation of Israel, especially in its totality, to make known the purity of the soul and its health rooted within it.”From Ma'amarei HaRe'iyah II:279
The Rav compares the consolation of a private person to the consolation of a nation. The basic need is not to focus on the sins of the nation, but to console it and strengthen it. Weakening the nation is not consolation! "To tell always of the praise of Israel, to find merit for them, and to find always the good and glorious side within them..." Our enemy invests his entire being in division and in a never-ending attempt to make us frightened and sad. The answer to this is to find the opposite way - to rise, to advance, to live!
