The Perversion of Justice
„If the law helps only toward evil and does not stand on the side of justice at all... then the whole society turns into a pack of ravening wolves.”From Ein Ayah, Shabbat 33
The world becomes perverted when small people run it. When private agendas and pretensions run our agenda, and not an eternal outlook, the world becomes stuck and may, God forbid, crash. So too regarding the courts and justice, which become perverted and run by propaganda and by an outlook that sees only the private need at the expense of the collective — and because of this they see to the welfare of the evil and the cruel at the expense of the life of the collective. And this perversion is very deep, because it gives might and power to evil. The Rav says that the repair for this is drawing near to the way of the Torah, which is connected to the Eternity of Israel and to the people of Israel, and which renders a judgment of righteousness whose power and ways are connected to eternity.
