Rav Kook's Sayings / The Pain of the Soul

„How great is the pain when the soul aches; it rises upward, and it feels that its wings are broken.”From Chadarav, 36

There is a deep and inner pain, and it is the pain of the soul. A shattering that seems to have no cure or remedy. Moments in which we ask the Holy One, blessed be He, to descend to us and give might and strength, because a human being has no ability to help. The Holy One, blessed be He, is also called "Place" (Makom), and many times the pain of the soul simply needs containment and place — expanse. "From the strait I called upon God; He answered me with the expanse of God."
