Rav Kook's Sayings / The Days of the Mashiach
„We are obligated to make ourselves fit with all the tools required for this, until we can contemplate, examine, write, and innovate a great and living literature from the depth of the soul of the inner Torah, one that will also be pleasant and acceptable by its external form.”From Article 'B'Ikveta DiMeshicha' ('In the Footsteps of the Mashiach')
Rav Kook's outlook on the terrible things that are written will happen in the days of the Mashiach is an astonishing and deep outlook. He explains that the world seeks to rise a level. And when this is not done in the correct and normal manner, it destroys and breaks in order to widen its vessels and in order to ascend — if not pleasantly, then by force. The Rav explains that the response of the people of Torah and morality must come from a place of deep understanding, of the need to widen the vessels, to broaden and adapt them.
