Mishpetei HaRav Kook / Difficulty as Strength
„In every ascent, there is always found a state of absence that precedes being, which reveals itself as a state of falling and weakening of spiritual power, preceding the strengthening of a power from a more exalted source.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 137
On the journey of life, we accumulate a different kind of energy that enables us to overcome moments of difficulty and crisis. Thus, just before the great ascents in our lives, we may feel as though we are on the verge of an explosion. Immense energy gathers within us, the spring of our life is stretched to its limit, and the sensation is one of tremendous pain. It is this pain that enables the great leap to the next stage of our life. Decay that gives birth to life, absence that creates being.
