Mishpetei HaRav Kook / The Need to Stop

„The impulse of the growth and perfection of life must come forth into actuality by means of granting a respite — a pause and a rousing — from the ordinary tumult of life. The individual rouses himself from the mundane life at frequent intervals — every Shabbat.”From Introduction to Shabbat HaAretz

The engine of our life is built such that the capacity for digestion is composed of the moments in which we stop, look back, and only then absorb and understand the path we have made. This breath that we take, this air that we feel, clarifies for us what has been and gives us strength for the future. So it is on every Shabbat, and so it is also at other moments — personal and national. To stop, to rest, to receive strength for the continuation. And to burst forth again, ahead.
