Mishpetei HaRav Kook / The Danger of Disconnected Progress

„And woe to all of humanity when it turns aside from the straight path, and instead of founding the center of all perfections upon the basis of elevating the will, it leaves the will itself in its coarseness, without refinement or elevation, and all its toil is only to fill the willful cravings.”From Orot HaTorah 15:2

When the world develops, the ultimate aim is to succeed in optimizing action as much as possible — to be precise, good, and professional. But when the aim becomes disconnected from the elevation of the human will and focuses only on professionalism, there is an immense danger that the technology and the professionalism will indeed advance, but the human being will be forgotten — a state in which humanity is disconnected from the world of action. In the days of the Industrial Revolution, the Rav warns of a world that is very professional and not human.
