„The light of Torah out of fog, and from a nation set apart, the discourse of the Lord.”From Meged Yerachim, Sivan

The month of Sivan is the month in which the Torah was given, and it is also the month in which the soul of King David descended into the world. Both the Torah and King David came from the fog, from unclear and unexpected places. The Torah on Mount Sinai — "and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick fog." And King David, whose origin was from Moab, of whom it was said that they shall not enter the congregation of the Lord. David's great-grandfather was Lot, who separated from Abraham, and returned to the people of Israel with a descendant who bequeathed the kingdom of Israel. It is worth remembering this — that at times salvation and redemption come precisely from the most unexpected source — "for there God is."
