„Not in sadness, not in cowardice, not in sentimental weakness should…”
„Not in sadness, not in cowardice, not in sentimental weakness should one turn toward the divine light, but with clear knowledge that what flows from the depths of the heart, to draw near to God, is a whole and healthy natural sense — and not merely a natural sense, but the fundamental natural sense of the soul, which flows in a person from the soul of the Life of the Worlds, from the soul of the whole universe, all that exists.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VI, 64
Alongside study, knowledge, understanding, and deep contemplation, there are within us also senses that desire the nearness of God. And we must be confident in our senses when we are upright — to understand that this inner voice flows from a depth and a foundation. When we delve deeply into knowledge, into Torah, into Halacha, we find this great light, which, if we have directed ourselves toward it, shines within us and grows mighty.
