3 May 2022 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

„When a person feels within themselves a complete emptiness, and sees…”

„When a person feels within themselves a complete emptiness, and sees that they are nothing, and their soul is bowed down within them from the depth of its dejection and the sight of its nothingness, let them know that the salvation of the Lord is near to shine upon them.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VI, 164

When a person is at the bottom and feels terrible and small, let them know that this feeling can symbolize a great ascent that is likely to come — out of the loathing within the emptiness, out of the suffering within the nothingness. Sometimes it is precisely the difficulty just before the breakthrough that may cause despair. And the more we internalize that the difficulty creates for us a new opportunity, the more we will succeed. It is darkest before dawn.
