The Power of Prayer
„And behold, prayer turns out to be that very abundance of will of the very forming of worlds, of the sustaining of worlds, of the life of the worlds.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VII, 125
We are often asked about the power of prayer — is it a magical force? And how can a person change the divine will? And what is the meaning of prayer? There are various answers to the matter, and Rav Kook wrote broad works on the subject of prayer and many passages. Their root is the understanding that prayer is bound to the will of the person and of creation. A kind of purification, and a request needed for the arrival of abundance out of this request — like the need to ask for something in reality, and out of that the thing arrives. When we ask for something, when we truly want it, our capacity to receive rises. Our vessels are more prepared to receive it, and the abundance can arrive. This is a very broad subject, and if there is the desire, I will try to expand on the matter later.
