„The State of Israel is the foundation of God's throne in the world, whose whole desire is that the Lord be One and His Name One — for this is in truth the most supreme happiness. It is true that this exalted happiness requires a long explanation in order to raise its light in days of darkness, but not for this reason will it cease from being the greatest happiness.”From Orot, p. 160
Rav Kook did not merit to see the State of Israel in its actual rise (he passed away in 1935); he did, however, see the pioneers, and in practice was among the founders of the state.
The Rav knew well the difficulties existing in Israel. As the first Chief Rabbi of the Land of Israel he contended day by day both with those who denied the state and with those who denied the Torah. Despite all this, this in no way diminished his faith that a Jewish state in the Land of Israel is the foundation of God's throne in the world, and that it is the basis through which the honor of God is revealed in the world.
We have merited and we see this with our own eyes — never have there been so many students of Torah as there are today, students whom, even though some of them do not support the state, the state funds and supports.
The State of Israel is a technological wonder, an economic and human success, and above all an immense miracle of the ingathering of exiles from the four corners of the earth.
It is true, there are also difficulties, there are also problems — as in every great thing. But even if there are difficulties along the way, we will not overlook the greatness of the miracle, and we will not be ungrateful in thanking the Holy One, blessed be He, for the miracle — the beginning of the flowering of our redemption.
Have a good rest of the day, everyone!
