„The true contemplative must recognize that contemplation which teache…”
„The true contemplative must recognize that contemplation which teaches ethics, the fear of Heaven, and good character traits must precede every spiritual aspiration.”From Shemonah Kevatzim, III, 192
Proper conduct precedes Torah, and a perspective of ethics, fear of Heaven, and good character traits precedes lofty spiritual aspirations.
A person who wishes to attain lofty spirituality must first establish his personal foundation, to be a better person. Only from this will he succeed in truly realizing spiritual aspirations.
A good day to all!
