Not to Regard Self-Righteousness
„One whose soul yearns for spiritual ascents and for clear contemplations should not abandon these levels, even though at times he suffers from certain unworthy traits.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VII, 106
When we want to advance and improve, the evil inclination jumps in with all sorts of clever arguments and sayings about how unworthy we are. And sometimes these sayings are correct, but they are not a reason to cling to corruption, but the opposite. If I am not in order in something, and I try to be in order in other things, I am not a hypocrite but one who makes an effort!
