A Home for the Soul

„One in whom the soul of a person truly dwells, his soul can find shelter only in the structures he builds through his spiritual labor.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 184

Each of us seeks a safe place. There are those who find it in routine, in external structures, in frameworks built before them. But deep within, the soul is not satisfied with a ready-made shelter. It demands of us to build a true home from within ourselves, a home composed of effort, of searching, of the daily work of inner repair. The days of Elul sharpen this question: on what do I lean, what truly holds me up in moments of fracture and crisis. The answer is not in flight or in leaning on what others have built, but in the consent to work on myself, to hew stone after stone in my spiritual edifice.
