Fifth Candle of Hanukkah

„Each and every day of a person's life is equal in its spiritual worth to all the days that preceded it together.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 603

We are advancing. Each day rests upon the day before it, and a person rises higher and higher. And the world advances and has, again and again, the opportunity to learn from the mistakes of the past. The essence of Hanukkah is the Oral Torah that renews itself – a festival not written in the Torah, a festival whose purpose is to add and to raise up another level and yet another level, like the House of Hillel. To add light. To give ourselves credit, to rejoice that we have grown by another year. And in this year to pray with even greater fervor that the study will bring us to a better place.
