„... I would be glad to hear your thoughts on the matter... ***”

„... I would be glad to hear your thoughts on the matter... ***”

On the conclusion of Shabbat, a moment before the week begins, Rav Kook explains to us what we must bring into the coming week, and into life in general.

Space for thoughts. Time in which we digest life. We digest the study, we digest the experience.

We must be careful not to enter into the loop of life without an understanding of our place. Constant, dry, and detached study is liable to place us in a position with many hours of study but detached from the heart of things, from their inner essence.

How much courage such a passage requires today, and how astonishing that it was written more than eighty years ago.

A servant of God is one who gives himself the possibility of understanding and does not accept everything as it is. A slave is one who thinks he must do everything at once, without thought, without contemplation, without selfhood.

Good week.

For the recovery of Roza bat Buba.
