The Holy Land

„It is not by how much you imitate, little or much, the style of novellae, pilpul, and homiletics of the Diaspora, that you will show your wondrous powers, O dwellers of a land of life; a great and lofty destiny, far higher than that, is yours.”From Orot HaTorah 13, 8

Continuing the things we wrote here yesterday, the virtue of the Land of Israel, of the Torah within it and the involvement in the practical life within it, is entirely different from what we grew accustomed to in thousands of years of exile. The halakhah, the discourse, the loving-kindness, the working of the land, and practical life – everything is different when one arrives in the Land of Israel. The meaning of the Holy Land is that the pilot phase is over, that the conservation of powers is behind us, and now we concentrate on a real world, one that has a Torah connected to life. Not an imitation of the period of exile, but Judaism in its glory and its strength.
