The Torah of the Land of Israel
„The Torah of outside the Land occupies itself with the repair of the individual soul... Not so the Torah of the Land of Israel. It is always concerned for the whole, for the entirety of the soul of the whole nation.”From Orot HaTorah 13, 3
The people of Israel experienced a terrible exile; for thousands of years we were distant from our Land and from our wholeness. The fulfillment of the commandments in exile was a fulfillment of preservation – "set up markers for yourself" – as Rashi wrote: "Make signs so as to know the way you went from the Land of Israel to Babylon, so that you will return by that same way; that is, for you will surely return from there." We returned to the Land of Israel, we merited to establish a state. And in the State of Israel we do not occupy ourselves only with preservation, but with development, building, and redemption. With plowing and harvesting, with settlement and living. An essential part of the change we are required to make is to change the mindset of preservation that was ingrained in us in exile. The Torah of the Land of Israel.
