A Strategy of Repair

„When one engages in repentance one must define, most precisely, the essence of the good and the evil, so that the remorse and the shaking of the will, from affirmation to negation, will fall only upon the evil and not upon the good.”From Shemonah Kevatzim I, 240

We are in days in which it seems that evil is taking over every corner and portion. The discourse becomes unbearable, and the division tangibly painful. This is alongside the deep sorrow over brothers and sisters who are in distress, and a war over our very existence. An essential part of the ability to repair is the definition and understanding of evil and good. Sometimes, in the flow of life, we grow accustomed to statements and notions that penetrate us and deceive us, and a primary part of repair is to stop, and to ask ourselves what we must fight against, and what we must embrace. What is good and what is evil around us. And then we will be able to fight the evil, and to preserve the good, without harming ourselves and our surroundings.
