To Preserve the Innocence of Childhood
„To bring childhood, in its very innocence and purity, to the border of youth and dawn, of old age and gray hair, in such a way that a strength be founded whose freshness will never depart – this is the mission of education in Israel.”From Ma'amrei HaRe'iyah, Dedication of the Talmud Torah in Rehovot
We say every morning: "My God, the soul that You placed within me is pure," and we pray that when the pure soul passes through this world it will remain in its innocence. The Rav says these things about childhood. The innocence of childhood is an immense wonder, and the more we succeed in preserving it, the more we will succeed in raising a youth and an adult of good character. And how does one do this? By understanding the greatness of innocence, by understanding its importance for our world and for the development of the child, in prayer and in safeguarding.
