„In all of humanity we have nothing so sanctified and worthy of being…”
„In all of humanity we have nothing so sanctified and worthy of being exalted as the holiness of the covenantal bond of marriage.”From Ein Ayah, Shabbat
What is so moving about a groom and bride?
In the world in which we live, we witness almost every day the intensifying of alienation and estrangement between human beings. Wars, jealousy, enmity, and rivalry surround us from every side, in the news, in the culture, and often within our own lives in one form or another.
And precisely because of this, there is no greater wonder than two different people with no prior family closeness, two who once were complete strangers to one another, who decide to bind their fate together. To become one. A couple who, in the age of individualism in which we live, choose to set the self aside and become a family, with the great advantages together with the difficulties and challenges.
This unique covenant, in a world so cold and estranged, is something exalted and extraordinary. And the work of us all is simply to preserve it as such.
