Parashat Acharei-Mot

„The sense of truth is the foundation of repentance. The recognition that the entire world and all its manifestations are but a shining forth from the outer garment of the light of the absolute divine truth implants in the heart a clear love of truth; and every expression contradicting the foundation of truth, whether in speech or in movement and deed, is removed from the world, effaced from existence and set apart from life.”From Shemonah Kevatzim VIII:57

Complications arise from falsehood. The world of falsehood is so dark a world that the moment one enters it, the ordinary systems of life are ruined. Therefore the gateway to repair and repentance in all the systems of life is truth. When we desire repair, we must strive for truth. And this is true on the personal level and on the general level. Parashat Acharei Mot, and also next Shabbat's portion - "Kedoshim" - deal with the importance of truth as a founding element and a basis for life.
