27 February 2024 · A sentence from the teachings of Rav Kook

Election Day

„As long as the most precious possession, Judaism in its fullness - in knowledge, in feeling, and in deed - holds the principal place within us, we can also bear the frictions of parties and differing opinions in the ways of building and national revival, and the differences of opinion may even bring us richness of spirit.”From Ma'amarei HaRe'iyah, Zecher LeMikdash keHillel

On election day for cities and councils, each person will vote as he understands and as is his way, but Rav Kook's words serve as an important signpost for our overall conception as a nation. The more we succeed in remembering our foundation, our tradition, the more the various voices will become harmony and the development of a people living in its land. Fraternal hatred comes from detachment - from the desire to cease being a part and to sever the basic belonging that connects us all. Proper leadership remembers the foundation that connects us, and upon it builds structures and creations. Vote and make an impact!
